Chiapas is a southern Mexican state bordering Guatemala. Its mountainous highlands and dense rainforest are dotted with Mayan archaeological sites and Spanish colonial towns. In the colonial city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, the Museo Templo y Convento Santo Domingo complex houses a baroque church and museum displaying regional artifacts. Surrounding it is a marketplace selling items such as colorful weavings.

How is the climate in San Cristóbal (and other places in the mountains) for these dates?

The temperature ranges between 14 and 16 centigrade degrees (57-61F) during the day, in the lows at night down to 6 degrees (43F). During the day the sun can be hot in places, such as the Cañón del Sumidero, Palenque and Chiapa de Corzo, it can be humid as well. We recommend that you bring a coat and/or sweater (appropriate clothing for cooler temperatures).
